STEP Training
The rapid growth occurring recently in the UAE has introduced need for large and unprecedented capital infrastructure programmes such as STEP. This programme delivery approach based in large part on international best practices provides an opportunity for the PMO to provide training and develop management skills within the ADSSC staff over the coming years. This strategically planned staff development programme will position the utility organization for future programmes and transfer skills that will last for coming generations.
Based on an evaluation of needs within the organization, active and passing learning courses and training workshops have been developed to ensure transfer of knowledge on programme and project management, technical design and construction, team and organization management and technical communications. For STEP, we will ensure transfer of knowledge to the appropriate personnel through both active and passive involvement and learning. Active learning involves learning by actively participating in a broad range of ongoing programme activity with established shadowing and mentoring relationships between ADSSC staff and experienced PMO team members. This presents formal, scheduled opportunities for shadow staff to interact with PMO and ADSSC management, make presentations, lead discussions, and display their leadership and knowledge skills. Passive learning involves knowledge that is gained through formal study in carefully selected programme module workshops, work exercise, learning activities, interactive workshops and technical courses.
